Swiss National Bank and Bern History Museum open 'Moneyverse' in April 2026
The SNB's new visitor centre, devoted to the subject of money, is located in the Kaiserhaus in the centre of Berne
Moneyverse, an initiative of the Swiss National Bank in cooperation with the Bern History Museum, will open its doors in Berne on 10 April 2026. The new place to experience and learn about the topic of money is centrally located in Berne's Kaiserhaus, which has been undergoing extensive renovation and modernisation since 2018 in line with historical preservation requirements.
To design and realise Moneyverse, the SNB has entered into a strategic partnership with the Bern History Museum, which it has commissioned to manage curation, outreach and operations. Moneyverse will contribute to economic literacy, address topics related to the phenomenon of money, and offer a glimpse into the workings of the SNB. The subject of money is viewed from four different perspectives - historical, economic, social and personal - each forming a 'money world'.
Combining contemporary gastronomy, local businesses and cultural experiences under one roof, the Kaiserhaus is a new meeting place in the centre of Berne. Today, the premises will be handed over to tenants at the Kaiserhaus building site. The reopening of the converted Kaiserhaus between Marktgasse and Amthausgasse will take place on 10 April 2026.
