Iconomix – economics for everyone
Iconomix is the Swiss National Bank’s educational programme. The SNB uses high-quality teaching material to promote economic and financial literacy among young adults in Switzerland. Iconomix is primarily aimed at teachers of economics and social studies at Swiss upper secondary schools.
What Iconomix offers
Iconomix is web-based and free of charge and has a modular design featuring units that cover a wide range of specialist topics related to economic and financial education. Media and methods vary depending on the particular topic and learning goals, with a pronounced focus on activity-based learning. Iconomix units are available in German, French and Italian, and in some cases in English.
How Iconomix is used
The Iconomix educational programme is used at 83% of Switzerland’s public upper secondary schools (as at 2025). The three main linguistic areas of Switzerland have a similarly strong showing in terms of usage and spread.
