The SNB's delegates for regional economic relations are constantly in touch with a large number of companies from different industries. Their reports are a valuable source of information for the SNB in assessing the economic situation. A summary based on the results of the discussions conducted with these companies is published regularly in the Quarterly Bulletin in the section titled 'Business cycle signals' (formerly 'Business cycle trends'). The Quarterly Bulletin also occasionally includes special reports on current topics.
Business cycle signals
On a quarterly basis, the SNB's delegates hold around 240 discussions with company representatives on the current and future economic situation. A summary based on the results of these talks is published in the Quarterly Bulletin in the section titled 'Business cycle signals' (until 2010, 'The economic situation from the vantage point of the delegates for regional economic relations' and until March 2017, 'Business cycle trends').
Selected data from the Quarterly Bulletin are available on the SNB's data portal.
The SNB also compiles special reports on current topics whenever necessary, e.g. the surveys conducted in 2010, 2011 and 2015 on the effects of Swiss franc appreciation.
