Swiss National Bank and Bern History Museum open Moneyverse
On 10 April 2026, the Moneyverse, the SNB's new visitor centre in Berne's Kaiserhaus, will open its doors. The Moneyverse is aimed at a broad public and, in particular, at school classes. Visitors will gain insights into the mandate and activities of the SNB, the history of money, and issues related to money that are of relevance to society today.
All of the Moneyverse's offerings are available in German, French, Italian and English. The Moneyverse at Marktgasse 37 in Berne is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm. Admission is free of charge.
The SNB, in collaboration with the Bern History Museum, is thus contributing to Swiss economic literacy. The Bern History Museum will be responsible for the operational management of the Moneyverse on behalf of the SNB.
The Moneyverse is part of the Kaiserhaus in Berne, which will open on 10 April 2026 following several years of renovation work. The Kaiserhaus combines contemporary gastronomy, local businesses and cultural experiences under one roof in the centre of Berne.
What the Moneyverse offers
- Visitors have the chance to explore different forms of money, both past and present. They gain insights into the work of the SNB and are invited to come together to discuss issues related to money that are of relevance to society today.
- Numerous historical artefacts from the collection of the Bern History Museum enrich the visitor experience with their individual stories.
- Experts from academia, culture and business guide visitors through the exhibition on audio tours. An interactive game allows easy access to the Moneyverse's topics.
- Curriculum-based programmes are available for lower and upper secondary school classes. Groups are offered a thematic introduction, the interactive game, and the opportunity to explore the exhibition on their own.
