The Swiss National Bank has nominated the six finalists for the design competition for the new banknote series. The designers of concepts B, G, H, J, K and L will go through to the final phase of the competition. The decision was based on the results of the public survey and the evaluation conducted by an advisory board of external experts.

Between 13 August and 7 September 2025, more than 100,000 people participated in the survey on the banknote designs. The SNB would like to thank the public for their keen interest and for the many responses received.

The final phase of the competition will evaluate potential cooperation with the designers as well as commercial aspects. The winner of the design competition will be announced in the first quarter of 2026, after which the further development of the designs will begin. The final design of the banknotes may differ significantly from those submitted during the competition. In accordance with the SNB's Organisation Regulations, the Bank Council is responsible for deciding on the design of the banknotes. The SNB expects the new banknotes to be issued at the beginning of the 2030s, at the earliest.
