Martin Hirzel nominated for election to Bank Council of Swiss National Bank

At its meeting today, the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank decided to propose to the General Meeting of Shareholders of 24 April 2026 that Martin Hirzel be elected to the SNB Bank Council for the remainder of the 2024-2028 term of office. Martin Hirzel is President of Swissmem. He is to take up office with effect from 1 May 2026 as the successor to Romeo Lacher.

Romeo Lacher stepped down from the Bank Council with effect from the date of the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders on 25 April 2025. He had served as Vice President of the Bank Council since his election in 2021. From the start of his term of office, he was also Chair of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Nomination Committee. The Swiss National Bank thanks Romeo Lacher for his strong commitment to the SNB and wishes him all the best for the future.
