The SNB processes the collected data exclusively for the fulfilment of its legal mandate (art. 5 NBA), for monitoring financial market developments (art. 14 para. 1 NBA), as well as for analysing financial market developments, gaining an overview of payment transactions, and drawing up the balance of payments or statistics on the international investment position (art. 15 para. 2 NBA). It may pass on data to the appropriate offices (art. 14 para. 2 and art. 16 para. 4 NBA). Infringements of the duty to provide information will be notified to the Federal Department of Finance (art. 22 para. 3 NBA) and may be penalised in accordance with art. 24 NBA. The right to supply information is provided for under art. 8 Data Protection Act.
