Loans under the Monetary Assistance Act
Loans granted by the SNB under the Monetary Assistance Act are aimed at preventing or solving serious disruptions in the international monetary system. They are guaranteed by the Confederation.
Loans under the Swiss National Bank Act
According to art. 10 of the Swiss National Bank Act, the SNB can grant short-term and low-risk bridging loans to other central banks and international organisations. These loans are not guaranteed by the Confederation.
