| The OECD was set up in 1960 by the European industrial countries, the USA and Turkey with the aim of promoting economic growth, employment and living standards in its member countries and to contribute to the healthy development of the world economy and world trade. The OECD has its headquarters in Paris. Switzerland has been a member since the organisation was set up.
